What a week: [1] Abbott [the suppository of all knowledge] does multiple backflips on Gonski. Then his henchman Christopher Pine removes all controls over funding so states will NOT have to fund the Gonski formula on public schools. This is the country that voted in Howard numerous times and most recently Abbott- clear evidence our education system is a disaster. What a sleaze.-watch this space next year. [2] Australias new attorney general, Brandis approves a raid on OZ lawyers office to steal all files and evidence underlying East Timors claims re Australia spying during oil reserve negotiations in 2004 claims. Also ASIO is intimidating a key witness in Australia. Luckily the legal team in the Hague has backup copies of most of this. Joseph Goebells is alive and well and living down under. [3] Abbott has resurrected discussion re privatising the ABC. Also talk of putting Sophie Mirabella in as ABC Chairperson- frightening. I am sure he is also having discussions with Rupert Murdoch about buying the Jakarta Post!! And so it goes. [4] Some potential good news on the horizon- The peter Slipper case may be thrown out today-lets hope so.
