What a wild, crazy, fun Market we had today. Joe Tom had corn, but he ran out and offered to meet people at his farm in the morning to get it fresh there. Denise sold out totally of her watermelon, cucumbers and peppers. Tracey and Arlene got a late start because Arlene had a blow out on her way from the Greensboro Market. We had apples today! But it was you, our customers, who made it so much fun! You started coming at 10 til 3 and didnt stop until 6. Remember I told you that the Market is the place to meet people? Well, I actually didnt leave the Market site until 7:30! I met the nicest person, a newcomer to our area, and we just talked and talked about a lot of things. Her name is Lena Gamble; she is from D.C. but was in school in New Orleans when Katrina hit. She moved to UAB and is now one of the new Rural Practice Residence (Doctor) at the Cahaba Medical Center. (See the article in Wednesdays Centreville Press [7/9].) She will be here for at least 3 years, but her time at UAB introduced her to Southern football. Once you get that bug, its really hard to leave the area regardless of your favorite team.
