What an amazing long weekend in southern California. First a birthday dinner at my parents with my sister Kim. Then a fun day at California Adventure with Kim, followed by dinner wirh my dear friend Carrie Hempel. Next day Kim drove me to the gorgeous and welcoming home of my dear friend Hilary Meserole. After catching up, she drove me to the bookstore in Malibu where I had the privilege of introducing the Widows Handbook, and reading from it with fellow contributors Florence Weinberger and Donna Hilbert. HBS classmate and Disney colleague Cory OConnor drove from Newport to support me, and my high school best friend Carol Rowe and her husband Doug came from Manhattan Beach....it meant so much to me. Then Hilary, Carol, Doug and I had drinks and food at Paradise Cove Cafe, on the beach in Malibu, and literally had sand under our feet in the warm evening as the sun went down. HBS classmates David Gold and Mark Kelsey joined us and we celebrated with chocolate cake with a candle on top. So much fun. Next day, today, Hilary and I joined HBS classmate Jon Kutler for brunch at the Bel Air Beach Club, again on a gorgeous sunny warm day at the beach. What could be better?
