What an inspirational article, really resonates with my thoughts on this subject. What if at certain level an intelligent species destined to take control of its own design, thus it is inevitable for humans to become trans-human in the near future, and later on possibly completely post-human, a pure consciousness with a little birthmark on whatever body or form it will chose to exist in. That birthmark could be possibly used to connect its evolutionary outcome to us today. What if we are a stage in the metamorphosis of the intelligent life on this planet - not a nymph but not yet a butterfly. Several researchers, including Shostak, put forward the following premise: That once a society creates the technology that could put them in touch with the cosmos, they are only a few hundred years away from changing their paradigm from biology to artificial intelligence. The idea is based on the so-called time scale argument or short window observation. Many researchers predict well have developed a strong artificial intelligence by 2050 here on Earth—about a hundred years after the invention of computers, or a hundred and fifty years after the invention of radio communication. The point is that, going from inventing radios to inventing thinking machines is very short—a few centuries at most, Shostak said.
