What are you doing this weekend? Visitors to the State and residents alike should be aware that a number of roads in the Greater Hobart area, will be closed for the annual City to Casino fun run and walk on Sunday morning. The event will commence at 9.00am at three locations: • Brooker Highway at Goodwood Road, Glenorchy • Cornelian Bay, New Town • Salamanca Place at Davey Street The finish point for all races will be at the Wrest Point Casino. The roads between the start and finish points will be closed while participants are on the roadway. This will effect vehicular traffic travelling south or wanting to cross the event route. In accordance to Section 56A of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999, Tasmania Police advise of the temporary closing of the following streets to facilitate this event: • 8.50am to 9.30am Brooker Highway from Goodwood Road to Risdon Road – south bound lanes only; • 8.50am to 9.40am Cornelian Bay and Queens Walk. This includes access to Marine Terrace, Rugby Park, Selfs Point Road and the Cemetery; • 08.50am to 09.55am Domain Highway, Lower Domain Road, Tasman Highway (left lane only for east bound traffic between Davies Avenue and Lower Domain Road) Tasman Highway (left lane only for west bound traffic between McVilley Drive and Brooker Avenue) Davey Street (left lane only for west bound traffic from Brooker Avenue to St David’s Park). This includes access to the Hobart Waterfront and the Regatta area • 08.50am to 10.30am Salamanca Place, between Gladstone and Davey Street; • 08.50 to 10.30am Sandy Bay Road at Davey Street to Drysdale Place, Sandy Bay; • 08.50 to 10.30am Drysdale Place, Sandy Bay – left lane only; The following may be seriously affected by these road closures and will need to either move their vehicles to an accessible location outside the affected area of the event prior to the road closures or delay their arrival or departure into the area: • Residents, visitors or workers of the Hobart Waterfront area, Battery Point, some areas in Sandy Bay and Stainforth Court; • Interstate or overnight travellers visiting our waterfront area; • Delivery vehicles to Self’s Point; • Visitors to Cornelian Bay; • Visitors to rowing sheds or Rugby Park; • Visitors to the Regatta Grounds or persons attempting to launch boats from these facilities; • Visitors or workers wishing to enter or depart from the PORT authority area of the waterfront; • Visitors wishing to access or leave Marieville Esplanade via Sandy Bay Road. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic wanting to travel on or cross the event route will be affected. The road closures will occur only when the participants are on or approaching that section of roadway. Police will be in attendance to manage traffic and will stop or direct traffic away from the event route.
