What are your thoughts on the emerging category of products that help consumers find and evaluate agents? They are promoted to consumers as free-of-charge services. The agent typically pays a referral fee to the website company which is also a licensed brokerage in a state that doesnt require the active representation of buyers and sellers. They are sometimes promoted with ppc. The ones Ive uncovered so far are: Agent Finder agentfindr/ Agent Ace agentace/ Agent Pronto https://agentpronto/i Neighbor City neighborcity Redfins scouting Report and RDCs Agent Match both publicly stumbled when agents aggressively protested being ranked, rated or reviewed with transactional data. Brokerage websites and the portals are encouraging agents to create attractive profiles describing their services. NAR recently showed up and will define a set of evaluation criteria for selecting an agent. Its not the reviews per se that people really want, they see reviews as a means to help select the best agent for their needs. I am intrigued by the idea of a brokerage integrating home search and agent search through sophisticated online marketing. I expect this product category to mature in 2015, perhaps in ways I dont quite grasp but will be watching for.
