What do Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson have in common? On July 6, 1944, a young African American lieutenant by the name of Robinson was stationed at Camp Hood near Waco, Texas. He was riding the bus on the base when the driver told him to move to a different seat (he had been sitting next to a light-skinned woman he knew). Robinson refused and when he reached his stop, the dispatcher had arrived to challenge him. A crowd assembled and military policemen took him into custody. He was court martialed for his disrespect.
