What does Dr. R.K.Gupta says, briefly----------- SOME Facts about Reservation------ 1. Caste Based Reservation (CBR) was first mooted by Willium Hunter in 1882 and was introduced by the British in1935, under its policy of Divide & Rule.... 2. Post-Independence, the ruling parties, have continued this, under the same policy, even 80 years after its implementation 3. In 1950, it was enshrined in the Indian Constitution for Ten years, so as to uplift the downtrodden people. Question is whether the CBR has actually helped in lifting the downtrodden or it is the Creamy Layer among the SCs, which have been taking the benefit. 4. Even 65 years post-independence, the benefits of reservation, are being reaped by the third generations of the same families whereas crores of economically weaker sections of the society, are deprived of this benefit. 5.It was desired that in 1947 itself, thje policy of caste based reservation should have been replaced by the economic based reservation 6. Constitution of India, in 1950, granted equal rights to every citizen but the Vote Bank Politics, destryed every thing 7.Privately, most of the political parties oppose the CBR, but are reluctant to oppose it publicly... 8. Of late, the National General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, Janardhan Dwivedi advocated for an economy based reservation policy ( rather than caste based) though he was silenced by the Government and the party 9 The Government should stop the CBR and draw a line (Laxman Rakha) of poverty, only those who are below that line, should be given benefit of reservation, to bring them at par .
