What floating pickup can produce the warmest, darkest tone? I have a DAngelico EXL-1 with a floating Kent Armstrong mini-humbucker pickup, Though the pickup is clear and delivers a lot of bass (I have to turn the EQ on my Henriksen 112ER almost all the way down to get rid of the boominess) the pickup is way too bright. I turn the tone control almost all they way down or all the way but after that it becomes too bright. Ive read that this is common and they dont have much of a range, just off or bright. I like a darker tone and realize I need an archtop wtih a built in humbucker for that. Would the Kent Armstrong hand made floating have a darker tone than this evidently cheaper one used on import guitars? Would it be an easy repair job to find one that would fit this guitar and replace the one it came with?
