What happened to Dr. Ben Carson? Ephesians 2:3-5 All of us used - TopicsExpress

What happened to Dr. Ben Carson? Ephesians 2:3-5 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved! Dr. Ben Carson is probably one of the most iconoclastic figures in America. He is known as one of the most successful neurosurgeons in the world. His book Gifted Hands has inspired so many young aspiring doctors to overcome poverty to reach their dream of being Doctors. That is why its so disturbing for me to see this hero to so many poor African-Americans be used by the right wing to come out and attack his own people. His recent rant that President Obamas healthcare plan is worse than slavery and that Obama has been guilty of playing the race card and that blacks are playing the victim over the Fergeson shooting are just incendiary. Dr. Carson almost killed a classmate with a camping knife he carried to school. Prior to that he would try to hit people with hammers or baseball bats because of an anger issue. When he tried to stab his friend in the stomach a metal belt buckle broke the blade. Dr. Carson went into the bathroom to pray That God would save him from his anger. Thanks to divine intervention Dr. Carson overcame generational poverty, racism, and anger. The Apostle Paul says, all of us use to live this way, under compulsion. If Dr. Carson lived under the compulsion of anger as do many youth brought up in poverty, why is it that he does not have empathy for the injustice for a Trayvon Martin or Mike Brown? There is a tendency for people whove been extended grace to forget to give grace to the people who exemplify the same traits and obstacles you overcame. 1. God intervened in the life of young violent Ben Carson to give him gifted hands. Its going to take divine intervention for scores of minorities who are disproportionately poor and caught up in an unjust judicial system. 2. It is by Grace we are saved. A belt buckle stopped Ben Carson from going to prison the rest of his life. Knowing the kind of anger God delivered him from should make Ben Carson more sympathetic to the possibility of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that many of these kids live with. Blaming racism and poverty on the victims who are under the same compulsion you grew up with is preposterous. Where is the buckle of Grace for MikeBrown? Where is the belt buckle of grace for Eric Garner? 3. God loved us so much that even while we were dead in our sins he sent Jesus to save us. Even when we were dead wrong God saved us. It is wrong for us to be helped up by Gods hand of mercy then look down our self righteous noses and tell poor people to get up and stop playing the victim. Dr. Carson use your gifted hands and help your people up! The only time you should look down on somebody is when youre looking down to help them up. It is by Grace not Race that we have been saved. Dont forget. Dear God, I thank you that you did not allow me to lose my temper, throw away my life, or be shot down. It was by Grace that you saved me even when I didnt deserve it. Now that Ive been saved help me to go back and help others up who look just like me and even those who dont. Help us to stop blaming the victims and fix the the broken system. Give us gifted hands and cleanse our guilty hands. In Jesus Name, Amen
