What happens when Canada’s Luckiest Student ends? CLS2 is coming to an end at 11:59:59 ET. We’re just as excited as you to find a winner. But with a contest this big, its not as simple as logging on at midnight and finding out who won. For those of you who haven’t read the rules in a while, here’s a recap of what happens. 1. The contest closes at January 23rd, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET. After this time you won’t be able to opt in to prizes or earn extra entries. 2. We wait an agonizing five days to see if mail in entries arrive at our office (thanks to contest laws and those pesky lawyers) and correct any server generated problems. 3. On or about January 28th, 2014 at 6:00 pm one entry will be randomly selected from a server generated list of all entries received during the Contest Period. The contestant who owns this entry becomes our potential winner. 4. We do all sorts of technical checks to make sure the contestant is legit, didnt cheat, only has one account, etc. If the contestant doubled their entries by having a CIBC account, we check with CIBC to make sure they actually do. 5. If the contestant has not opted in to every prize, we draw additional names and repeat step 4 until all prizes are accounted for. 6. We contact the potential winner or winners by email, we get release forms signed and ask each winner if theyre willing and able to accept the prize. 7. We invite the winner or winners to answer a skill testing question in person. If that all checks out the winner or winners become official. We throw a big party to celebrate, award the prizes and let the rest of you know the news. If not, we go back to Step 3. Well keep you updated every step of the way.
