What have we been up to? Well, its been busy here in the Nolan house lately! Ryan turned 19, Jayden graduated high school, Isaac has chosen his Senior subjects and Alyssa is officially enrolled Sandgate District State High School Special Education Unit for high school. We are also in the process of looking for a new house as our lease is up soon. Alyssa and I visited her plastic surgeon today in regards to an operation to release the muscles in her to attempt to alleviate her torticollis somewhat. We came home with mixed results: The plastic surgeon is not keen to operate yet (Yay!) but that is because he would like to confer with the craniofacial and orthodontic teams to look at possibly doing a complete reconstruction instead. The plan would be one very long and complicated surgery to try to improve her torticollis, facial asymmetry and bite issues all at once. This would most likely happen next year. It will be a huge surgery for her with quite a long recovery time and an extended period of physiotherapy and rehab so its a bit of a frightening concept to consider. However, we are willing to whatever is necessary to give Alyssa the best quality of life possible. It does make me even more determined to make this America trip happen though! It will give her something to look forward to, a ray of sunshine in the clouds of the procedures and pain she will be facing. We are almost at 20% of our goal and most of that is thanks to the kind people who have donated on our GoFundMe page - your generosity is truly appreciated. Every cent is a step closer! Well, I am sure you have had enough of me for now, please keep liking and sharing and for those of you who have children, give them an extra hug tonight - they grow up way too quickly!
