What is BJP? What is BJPs vision for India? What change are they talking about? For whom is the change? BJP supporters says, they are for a Secure, Prosperous, Dignified nation, India first. Whose security, prosperity and dignity are they talking about? They are talking about the security, prosperity and dignity of quote unquote upper class upper caste Hindu. A 2010 survey by Navsarjan Trust and the Robert F Kennedy Centre for Justice and Human rights conducted over three years in randomly selected 1,589 villages in the state of Gujarat revealed that 98 forms of untouchability were practiced against dalits. According to the study, in 90.8% cases dalits were not allowed into temples; 98% of respondents said that nondalits keep separate utensils at home to serve food or tea to dalits; in 98.1% of villages surveyed, a dalit cannot rent a house in a nondalit neighbourhood. (Like this 98 forms of untouchability exists in Gujarat.) [ rfkcenter.org/new-india-study-finds-untouchability-pervasive-across-public-and-private-life ] The usual counter argument would be - What is so special about this? This happens everywhere, right?. This case is special for the way Gujarat Govt handled this comprehensive report. It shows the real character of BJP/Sangh Parivar. It gives a glimpse of the so called future India they envision of. BJP Govt constituted a counter committee to study the Navsarjan report. The quote unquote upper caste committee came up with a counter report after studying 5 villages. They justified untouchability labelling it as a matter of perception. They claimed that talking about untouchability would create animosity. A chamar has to accept the divine sanction of being a chamar and stay where they are supposed to stay. Udne ka nahi. Seeking equal rights would sow seeds of animosity among communities. Hindu Rastra, what a beauty! [ blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes/true-lies/entry/untouchability-and-modi-s-babus ] Constitution vouches to create a casteless society. Constitution vouches to erase of untouchability. But for the BJP, talking about untouchability would create animosity. (They care more about Gau Mata, than a dalit, in accordance with their Manusmruti. They care for the security, prosperity, dignity of a Gau Mata than that of a dalit!). BJP like the Congress is a status quoist party. They dont want change. They want permanence, permanence of the khap panchayat in place. We want Nai Duniya, Nai Insaan, the change that Constitution of India envisions of, not old wine(khap) in a new jar.
