What is Holistic Psychology? I am a Board Certified Holistic - TopicsExpress

What is Holistic Psychology? I am a Board Certified Holistic Psychology Practitioner and most people do not know what that means. This new method of psychology is becoming more popular because of its integration of the "whole person" and not just the brain itself. Holistic psychology is based on psychosynthesis, a technique that addresses the whole system of mind, body, and spirit. This form of therapy concentrates on the behaviors and thoughts that contribute to specific conditions in the body. I like to think of it as a kind of "thought therapy" wherein you change your thoughts, you change your entire life. Clients are taught to identify their particular situations and learn ways to heal themselves. This is the other beautiful aspect of holistic psychology, it is "client led" therapy in which the client is empowered with tools and techniques that can be carried on throughout the rest of his/her life. The client is the one in control when given the right tools and techniques to handle their particular psychological needs. Empowering people is the fundamental basis of holistic psychology. Most people feel weak, out of control or at the mercy of mental disorders such as anxiety and depression. Although these conditions do have genetic and biological roots (meaning they may not be able to be cured) clients can learn to manage and cope with these conditions in a way that frees them from being the victim of their condition. Holistic psychology is the new wave of psychology and is growing stronger everyday. There are not very many holistic psychology practitioners out in the world right now but my hope is that in the very near future holistic psychology will be taking over the traditional psychology field like wild fire. This psychological practice can be one of the most powerful healing practices of our time because it empowers people!
