What is more attractive-to vote for the Govt elections or for the Club elections??? It looks like entertainment takes precedence over governance. With the deadline of 30th Sept –all the clubs have been having their elections and what excitement-an excitement that I did not see at the assembly elections in May this year. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many Malleswaramites patiently standing in the long snaking queue waiting their turn to vote at the Malleswaram Association -it took me more that a hour to reach the ballot box. Did they all do this in May???? Of the 1800 members 1041 voted –all within 5hrs-i.e. 57% voter turnout. This really proves that the clubs are more attractive than the government. Something to ponder about seriously!! The “what’s in it for me “ gets answered in the clubs but not in the governments. Somehow the disconnect it getting bigger-and sadly so. Wake up citizens –the problems faced by all of us in because we think that we are insulated from the actions of the Government-which ever tier it is. This is an illusion and we better wake up from this dream before it truely becomes a nightmare.
