What is narcoplepsy with cataplexy? Hows this chart for you? So, my mom has court on Tuesday for her DUI charge. Last month, my mom was pulled over for speeding. Totally guilty. 54 in a 40. (Lets admit weve all done that!). When the officer pulled her over ,he asked her where she was going. She mentioned taking her medicine, for some reason, and he asked to see it. He immediately told her to get out of her car due to his understandable ignorance about her mediation. Up until that point, my mom was FINE. Her medicine is what helps her to drive. It keeps her from having EDS (see purple below). However, a sudden change in emotion from the officer asking her to get out of the car --fear -- (see Cataplexy-Emotional triggers below), caused her body to go into cataplexy -- Which, as you can see, could resemble someone thats intoxicated. So, my mom was cuffed, arrested, taken to jail...and I wont go into it further. Horrible situation! She was NOT intoxicated! This is why I want to bring awareness to what she has. Prayers for her on Tuesday are GREATLY appreciated! Pray for those charges to be dropped and the case to be thrown out!
