What is the purpose of art, if not to lift our spirits, fill us with hope, creativity, inspiration, laughter, compassion, peace, wisdom and love? The mind has no wisdom - it simply regurgitates what ever information it has received. If we were taught A is for Apple we believe that is so. If we were taught A is for Orange then we would be sprouting that as the truth. Reality is found within our heart. Our mind is just a mechanism for receiving and transmitting information. It can either be kept pristine or be polluted. This is why what we put into our minds is so important. If the movies we watch, the music we listen to, the books we read, the artworks we look at, the shows we go to - make us feel depressed, dejected, competitive, hateful, sorrowful, lustful, fatigued, negative and so on - then we have to question whether the art we are exposed to is really serving our soul?
