What is wrong with the people of this country? They sing songs about how BRAVE and FREE we are, and than insist that our legislatures of both state and federal levels violate the Constitution out of fear as if that is a valid reason to remove the freedom guaranteed by our Constitution. How many times do you need to be reminded, we are NOT a democracy. It takes more than just a legislative action to amend the Constitution. Our Constitution is unique and is the core foundation of our country and our way of life. Millions have died to protect it, so that we and our children will continue to benefit. 1) You have the religious forgetting that the first part of the 1st Amendment is Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. That means you CAN NOT legislate your dogma without violating this protection. 2) You have the socialist that claim the 2nd Amendment is for militias while forgetting the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. 3) You have the class bigots wanting to violate the 4th Amendment with drug testing for no better reason than the two year old spoiled rotten brat rant of If I have too, than they should have too. We have completely LOST the concept, definition, and reality of Freedom. The - Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as: Freedom - Noun 1: the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : independence c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous d : ease, facility e : the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken f : improper familiarity g : boldness of conception or execution h : unrestricted use 2a : a political right b : franchise, privilege When you try to remove anothers ability to live, to opinion, to act, to worship this is tyranny. NOT Freedom. Freedom is accepting that they have the right to do, say, and worship, with out reprisal as long as they in doing so, do not infringe on your right to do, say, and worship. Removing that because you dont LIKE it by merely voting is not freedom. That is Democracy. The founding fathers called democracy the enslavement of the minority. That is why they amended the Constitution with the first 10 Amendments called The Bill of Rights. If you dont like someones use of freedom, the Constitution has provided a way to change the amendments. That is Article 5 of the Constitution. That is how it is LEGALLY done. That is the ONLY legal way to do it. So the next time you claim the right to say something, dont forget, that is just a small part of the whole, and without the whole, you no longer the right of the part. The Constitution is NOT a pick and chose scenario like so much of religion is, if you ignore a part, you have violated the whole. Without the WHOLE of the Constitution, we are just another group trying to enslave those who dont agree with us. That is the whole reason that this country was founded, so that we can ALL be free to think, live, act, and worship as we want so long as it does not inhibit anothers thought, life, actions, and worship. Try to remember that the next time they renew the Patriot Act, indefinite detention, free speech zones. It is time to show we are no longer afraid, that fear is NOT a valid reason to violate our Constitution. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
