What many dont realize who are passing legislation and ordinances making homelessness or helping the homeless a criminal act or who are forcibly removing and banning the homeless from their areas is that a strong percentage of the homeless population in the U.S. are veterans, many of whom have suffered serious setbacks due to illness and mental illness, discrimination, support system inadequacy or breakdown, financial disadvantagement (including the fact that many financial institutions consider them a bad credit risk), abuse and insults from individuals and organizations which oppose military action, particular wars or conflicts, or military service, and loss of benefits once promised to them..............................................................................
