What one expects of a university graduate is not that he should becomed a learned scholar in his line,which is a flat impossibility in the four-year course,b ut that he should know his ropes as we say,as far as his line is concerned,but far more important than that,that he should have an intelligent interest in the things of the mind,and should be able to think critically about the contemporary social,political and economic problems. That i take to be the mark of an educated man.
