What really amuses me about the Russian invasion of Crimea--or, rather, the only thing that amuses me, as Im rather seriously concerned by 2014s version of the Cuban Missile Crisis--is that its a concrete/literal example of a very well known metaphor thats also an ethnic stereotype (those are bad and never true even if they are true, right? I cant remember how Im supposed to feel about stereotypes) with a concrete historical background replete with practical examples. In other words, its literally and figuratively true for both terms in the stereotype: Putins playing Russian Roulette.
