What really annoys me about already-rich people demanding - TopicsExpress

What really annoys me about already-rich people demanding pay-rises is this: 1/ They already have enough fricking money. 2/ It’s not like they have to do shitty-ass jobs, do they? 3/ If the average annual income is $51,000, that would mean that the average person would have to work NINETEEN YEARS just to make $1,000,000. The fact that TBBT actors want $1,000,000 PER EPISODE just makes me wanna cry… I think they’re actually getting paid $300,000 per episode, so figure this: The average person would have to work nearly SIX YEARS of their life to make that kind of money - and it’s not like at the end of the six years, they’ll even see it. Because it is so difficult for people on minimum wage to even save money… but let’s say they do. Let’s say, each month, they’re able to put away $100 in savings (unlikely, but let’s say for argument sake that this is possible.) They would have to do that for 250 years to save up to $300,000. It would take a total of 833 years until a person on minimum wage could call themselves a millionaire. However, for TBBT actors, it only takes 3-4 EPISODES until they can call themselves millionaires. So, yeah, minimum wage folks could get rich - except the human life span isn’t long enough! I am just so sick of the rich getting richer. You very often find that rich people are ignorant of the difficulty that minimum wage workers face. You hear things like, “Why not just get more money? Why not save a little and go on holiday?” I’m sure minimum wage workers would love to do this. I’m sure they’d love to go on holiday 4 or 6 times a year. I’m sure they’d love to go clothes shopping, and drive around in a big, expensive car, and go on sailboats, and live their lives with a sense of financial security. I’m sure they would love that. But they can’t afford to live like that. So, “You wanna pursue your dreams because you can afford to?” turns into, “Wow, we actually managed to pay our cable bill this month. You wanna watch The Big Bang Theory?” And it’s a vicious cycle of supply and demand. Minimum wage workers are the fuel in which people with money use to run their lives. If there’s a group of people that require pay-rises, it’s gonna be the ones that don’t already make $300,000 in a week. So, what I would say to TBBT actors right now is, please don’t forget that $300,000 is a already a lot of money. And are you sure you need more? [I wrote this before I found out they were originally getting $325,000 per episode, not $300,000. This was also written before I knew they had gotten their pay-rises. For shame, Jim, Kaley, and Johnny. For shame.]
