What sets Club Pet apart from typical rescues is that "MANY" of our dogs are considered unadoptable for one reason or another. Club Pet was founded on the principle of saving those that others would not. We are an all breed rescue. Our foundation and our hearts have always been with those considered unadoptable. Unadoptable meaning: Beagles, seniors, special needs and those with temperament issues. We accept Heartworm positive dogs; those with disabilities; those that we know need medical and those that are seniors (meaning over 6 in most pounds). We take in owner relinquish dogs; strays from our community and those from pounds in five different states. I know every dog and his/her personality and when I post a dog, I am honest with the issues that I see. My contract has always stated that if for any reason he/she does not work out in the adopted home...they MUST be returned to me. I also always refund an adoption fee...whether it be weeks or years. That being said, I am as honest as I can be regarding known temperament and health issues because I mandate the return of the dog if indeed the adopter no longer wants him/her. My dogs are all kid tested (I have three of those, lol), tested w/other dogs and cats. I personally test with food/treats and toys for any guarding or reactivity. Dogs that I feel are "aggressive" are never offered for adoption. We do have dogs here that have attitude and we post if indeed this is the case. When we offer these dogs for adoption, we feel that they are not aggressive and could be managed within a responsible supervised environment. I would never adopt a dog to a home that I felt would not fit the proper needs of the dog or the adoptive family. Sometimes an application approval means you are approved to adopt a dog from CPA, but perhaps not the particular dog you are requesting. This is because I try to assure the best fit for both the adopter and the rescue.
