What the hell is happening to the Western. I just forced myself to watch the new western called The Virginian with Trace Adkins. Trace is an okay singer but acting?. I just cannot understand how they got a budget together to make such a boring movie. Most of the cast look like they have just been picked up at the local town stage acting group. The action sequences are pathetic or just a lot of slow motion and watching the characters bouncing about on a horse like it was their first time, made me cringe. This definitely doesnt do anything for the western and to call it it The Virginian is an insult to one of the best classic films ever made. ( Joel McCrea 1946 & the great TV series with James Drury). Maybe I am being a little harsh but if they are going to make westerns then they should be put in the hands of people who understands the Westerns & find actors that can act and ride a horse. Last classic western that I have seen (2012) was The Hatfields & McCoys with Kevin Costner & Modern West . Now theres a man who understands the western. Also, Tom Selleck, Robert Duvall, Sam Elliott, Tommy Lee Jones, to name but a few. This film should never have been made. I love the westerns films and have been a devoted fan all my life. A western film made as poorly as this is definitely not going to entice a new audience to the western genre. On the contrary..
