What we are looking for is a Government. (Isaiah 9:6 – 7) (Revelation 12: 5) (Isaiah 28:16) (Daniel 2: 31 – 45) (Matthew 16: 13 – 19) What is a Kingdom? It is the governing influence of a King over his territory influencing it with his will, purpose and desire and creating a culture that reflects the King’s nature. The concept of ‘Kingdom was not invented by mankind but was the first form of government introduced by the Creator. “Now the earth was formless (no order) and empty (chaotic emptiness), darkness was over the face of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light.”(Genesis 1:2 – 3) Here we see that the impact of a divine, invisible, supernatural government was necessary because of disorder and chaos: Man was chosen to continue the impact initiated by God. “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule (or have dominion) over the fish of the sea, and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”(Genesis 1:26) The word ‘dominion’ above means, to rule or govern. Therefore, the First command given to man by his creator was to establish a “government” on the earth to destroy chaos and to maintain order. Government is God’s solution to disorder. Genesis 1:28. The logical conclusion one can derive from this scenario is: 1st – Government is God’s idea. 2nd – The absence or lack of correct government will always lead to chaos and disorder. 3rd – Wherever there is chaos, disorder or lack of productivity, the answer is correct government. Since man’s fall from governing grace – he has been attempting to establish a form of self-government that would alleviate the internal and external chaos he continues to experience. The chaos is also manifested in the natural physical creation he was mandated to govern – earth. This is the reality behind the statement made by Paul in his letter to the believers in Rome: 19. “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing for the sons of God. 20. For the creation was subject to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope, 21. Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.(Romans 8:19 – 21) Paul’s statement reveals the fact that government affects not only the people of the land but also the physical environment itself. Governing is serious business and it is a Godly business. The fall of man was not the loss of heaven but rather the loss of the Kingdom government of heaven on earth. Any honest human taking a serious look at the condition of our planet would have to conclude that the earth is in need of a new, or in this case an alternative form of government. The spiritual, social, economic, physical, environmental, and cultural conditions of our earth demand a government that is superior to any we have yet invented. (to be cont’d)
