What words can I use to describe the glorious unfolding of tonights concert? I felt so honored and privileged to be a part of this massively successful concert! Benjamin Brittens War Requiem was beautiful. Although Id been on that stage before, this was my first concert as an official member of the EPC. The thundering kettle drums were close enough to pound my heart out of rhythm, and the brass section commanded the air with their majestic sound. The strings, the woodwinds... Every intricate part of the orchestra was caught up in the passionate score, giving the fullest of their talents to the audience. The childrens chorus sounded like the sweetest little chorus of angels from above us in the balcony. The Philharmonic chorus rose the occasion, performing this difficult piece and doing so with a level of talent that our beloved conductor Andrea Drury could be proud of. Andrea worked so very hard to train the chorus. She pushed and prodded, encouraged, scolded, taught and forced us to become better! We became more, we went outside of our comfort level and broke into a realm of angelic song I had never experience before. Every moment, from the softest amen to the THUNDEROUS refrain of libera mae was molded, crafted and carefully tended to by Mrs.Drury. I cannot thank her enough for pushing me to become better! Tonight, a work of art came alive. The terror, horror and heartache of war that cannot be painted on canvas, became a living, audible portrait tonight in the Victory Theatre. What a sweet memory I will forever hold of this night. Thank you to all involved! Thank you to Maestro Savia for not only sharing his passion onstage and pushing us to fine-tune the tiniest of details, but for choosing this work for the Evansville Philharmonic. Thank you to Kristen Jones and Tom Drury for helping prepare us. Thank you to my many chorus friends who make Monday nights so wonderful and who have been the most welcoming musical family I could have imagined! Thank you to ALL in attendance... It meant so much to all who have worked on this to look out and see a full house! And so its all over... Now we smile, pack away our requiem scores and get ready for Christmas music... But the effects of this concert will linger. The color of the souls involved has become more vibrant and the memory of tonight will not fade quickly. I love you all... I love everything right now! How could I not? Its snowing as I write... And there are only 39 days left until Christmas😊
