Even before the war the Assadi regime has managed by miscalculation, exploitation greed and mismanagement to mutilate the Ghouta beyond recognition. If we surrender the rest of the Ghouta we shall be surrendering, as you mentioned, the lifeline of Damascus. It is self-destruct in its most terrible form and consequences. It will be an ecological and environmental disaster of massive dire proportions.
