Whatever He Says To You, Do It The Scriptures record a time - TopicsExpress

Whatever He Says To You, Do It The Scriptures record a time near the beginning of Jesus’ ministry when both He and His mother attended a wedding feast. When those who were providing the feast ran out of wine, Jesus’ mother solicited His help. She also told the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Of course, we know that Jesus went on to miraculously turn the water into a grape beverage far superior to what they had been drinking (John 2:1-11). “Whatever He says to you, do it.” At the feast there were six large waterpots. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” The Bible says, “And they filled them up to the brim.” He also said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” The Bible simply says, “And they took it.” “Whatever He says to you, do it”... It really is that uncomplicated. Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords.” The Father has “seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion... and He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church...” “All authority has been given [Him] in heaven and on earth.” He IS the One to be obeyed! (1 Timothy 6:15; Ephesians 1:20-22; Matthew 28:18). “Whatever He says to you, do it”... If Jesus says, “love your enemies,” do it. If He says, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,” then don’t. If He tells you to “be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,” do so. If He tells you in His word to worship in a certain manner... Well, you get the idea. How remarkably changed our lives would be if, every time we saw His example or heard His commands, we followed and obeyed the Lord Jesus! (Just what do we think the term, “Lord,” means, anyway?! Read Luke 6:46!) How can we daily remain unaffected by what He says? But too often we are. May our “minds” be “renewed” by daily meditating on WHO Jesus is, and by daily reading what He tells us to do. If we do so, how can we help but be “transformed”? (Romans 12:2) Did you come to this article seeking some ‘deep,’ mysterious, multi-layered, philosophical teachings? We hope not. “Whatever He says to you, do it.” --Mike Noble
