Whats scary about this Darren Wilson case (not Michael Brown case - TopicsExpress

Whats scary about this Darren Wilson case (not Michael Brown case because hes the victim not the offender) is the fact that this grand jury is being treated like a trial jury. A grand jury is an investigative tool determining whether or not there was potential criminal conduct. A trial jury determines the guilt of that criminal conduct. In this case, the grand jury decides whether or not Darren Wilson is charged with first-degree, second-degree murder, voluntary or involuntary manslaughter, or not charged at all. (Although it is fairly normal for the prosecutor to determine whether or not he is charged. A grand jury, in the grand scheme of things, was basically unnecessary in this case.) However, it seems that theyve charged this grand Jury with determining if Darren Wilson was guilty or not. Basically, this process was poorly handled by the prosecutors office. Just another sign, although not blatant, that black lives are not treated with the same respect and dignity.
