When Amanda was teaching a Gifted Class several years age, one of the subjects was Newtons law of gravity, specifically why two objects with a different mass, fall at the same rate. Amanda had prepared a half dozen experiments for the class, these involved several scientific theories and laws. For her final presentation she wanted something to show Newtons law of gravity ....so she asked me what two objects should she use. It was the night before the class, so I came up with two handy objects I had available....a heavy golf ball and a light ping pong ball. She said that would work, so I gave her one of each.....the next day at school, she went through each of the experiments for her gifted class, she had planned on ending it with Newtons Law and dropping the the two objects with different masses....As she finished up on all but the last one, she turned to get the ping pong & golf ball.....but she suddenly remembered she had failed to pick them up that morning, they were still lying on our kitchen counter........so she turned to the class.....and stated....I have one more experiment to do....but I dont have the balls to do it..............believe me...not something you want to say to a young gifted class......
