When Character Was King: A rather convenient piece of history - TopicsExpress

When Character Was King: A rather convenient piece of history is missing from this list. The day of the inauguration of President Reagan (Jan 20) our hostages were released. How did this happen? Because on January 8th a message was delivered from President elect Reagan to the Charge dAffairs of Iran in Ottawa Canada. Here is the message: To The People of Iran and to the Ayatollah Khomenei in particular: You have breached international law and convention in kidnapping American Diplomatic personnel and holding them against their will. The previous President Mr. Carter requested their immediate release, a request which you have ignored. As you are aware I will in short order be signing the official documents for the transition of the Office of the Presidency of the United States and upon doing so have already prepared my first order of business. You are hereby requested to release our American Diplomatic Service personnel prior to attaining the Office of President of the United States. If our personnel are not released before I officially become President I will order a Nuclear strike on the City of Mecca, Saudi Arabia as my first order of business. President Elect Ronald Reagan. - This piece of history was witnessed by the person who delivered the message and the world saw the results. Dr. Jim Garrow.
