When Government Replaces God – Part 2 America has always had - TopicsExpress

When Government Replaces God – Part 2 America has always had some form of religion, mainly a Judeo/Christian form that even the Constitution is based upon. One thing that it says is that we have a free right to the religion of our own choice. That choice was placed there because of the lack of freedom of religion in England and Europe. For the most part it was a battle between Catholics and Protestants, other religions didn’t really come into play in creating the Constitution. In America today we can have religion of our choice, but there are some today that only want to allow that religion in the building, that is, the church building. Leave God out of everything else, that is the direction America is going, and has gone. And while atheist groups are fighting to get rid of God in all public life, the government entertains Islam and is allowing Sharia Law in many places. I haven’t figured that one out completely. When we go back to Genesis Chapter 1 we find the phrase “And God said,” used six times. Then we find the phrase “the LORD God” used eleven times in Chapter 2. God’s name is used first as the creator of the heavens and earth, then His Lordship and name is proclaimed when it comes to all of the living creation. In other words, He is Lord over all that He has created. But when you get to Chapter 3, to where the serpent comes in and speaks to Eve, “…He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘you must not eat from any tree in the garden’? Genesis 3:1 (NIV) Notice that the serpent didn’t say “the LORD God”, he just said “Did God really say”, he leaves LORD out! Even though at the very beginning of that verse, it said this: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. What the serpent was doing when he tempted Eve was to keep religion, that is the name of God, but he left out God’s authority as LORD. He kept the name of the God that she worshiped, but didn’t include the God or LORD she served. That is a big problem today, we say that we believe in God, we say we believe in Jesus, we say that we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the One that comes to save us from our sins, death, and eternal separation from God, but then many refuse to make Him LORD. Many have joined the church, but have not become a part of the Body of Christ. We have Churches that are full of “Want-a-be Christians”, but won’t make any commitment to Jesus as Lord. They seem to ignore that the Scripture says. This is odd, because in many Churches, they recite this Scripture almost every Sunday. Romans 10:9, 10 (NIV) “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” We are good at saying the words, and we say we believe that God raised Him from the dead, but in our actual life, we are really bad at allowing Jesus to be LORD. It is like it is here in America today; many come here to enjoy the freedom and all the things that are here to any who will seek it. But they don’t want to be Americans like we used to. They come here and fly their own country’s flag. They don’t try to learn the common language that is spoken here. They want what America offers, but they don’t what it stands for. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not saying that everyone that comes here is that way, anymore than I am saying that everyone who confesses Jesus as Lord doesn’t try to make Him so. But it is a real problem and it is splitting this nation apart. Many today want to have God, but don’t want Him to be LORD. They want to have church without God being in charge. They are quick to start it all off with prayer and get it out of the way, then get on with the business. When there is a Declaration of Independence even though you may maintain the tower, called religion, you have removed yourself from divine covering. Both the world and much of the Church is beginning to choose the rule of man instead of the rule of God over their lives. The church today is under attack by mans idea of creation, that is evolution, and God can’t fit into that package. There is a majority of the people today that feel that Christianity is trying to hold them back from doing what they want to do. They have lost sight of God, because we failed to hold onto what God has promised, and now we don’t even want to try and explain it to anyone any more. Sharing Christ with family, friends, or neighbors just doesn’t happen very much, and when we have gotten people to church, many times they receive such a watered down Gospel that their lives have not been affected. And after a time, they see no reason to attend, nor do they see any reason to call upon God, because He has never done anything for them, or the people they know. They don’t want to come any longer because as far as they are concerned, God, if He exists at all, failed them. They have looked at us Christians that act just like them, look just like them, and see no reason for believing in what we have, because for the most part, we have nothing to offer them that they don’t already have. The biggest enemy of God has been the Church! America as a nation has declared Independence from God. Even President Obama has said that we are no longer a Christian Nation. As a nation today, they do not see any reason for the God we profess. And if God isn’t LORD over an individual, He will not and cannot be LORD over the Nation. But, whether they want to admit it or not, God is still in control over our Nation, He just isn’t recognized as Lord. Now back to our Scripture from last week in Genesis 11:4 where it said, “that we may make a name for ourselves.” They wanted to make a name for themselves; they didn’t want to call themselves by God’s name. They didn’t want Him to be LORD. So they intended to build this city and tower all the way into heaven to prove that they were independent from God and did not have to depend upon Him. If He was LORD, they would have to do what He said, and they did not want to do what God wanted, they wanted to stay together and not be “scattered over the face of the whole earth.” So what has happened? Where have we failed? What is the purpose of the Church in government? Is there really supposed to be a separation of Church and State? Let’s continue to look at these things in When Government Replaces God – Part 3 Until He comes! (Hosea 10:12)
