When I am anxious about dying, I battle unbelief with the promise - TopicsExpress

When I am anxious about dying, I battle unbelief with the promise that “not one of us lives for himself and not one of us dies for himself; for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living” (Romans 14:7–9). -- John Piper, Future Grace pg. 61. I love when fall comes that leaves change, the nights get cool and the busyness of summer slows down. But the changing of the seasons also sobers me and reminds me that seasons change, time marches on and life is short and the way to eternal life is found in Jesus but it still passes through death. I spoke with a co-worker today whos friend recently lost a battle with cancer. Another co-worker had a grandparent recently pass away. And it wasnt all that long ago that my Grandparents passed away. I was able to witness my Grandma Bells last breath and while it was hard and painful, it was also beautiful, peaceful and filled with a certain sense of awe and glory. Like me, she loved singing music and she loved the old hymns! While she didnt really have her full wits about her when Allie recorded her CD called Treasures, Im sure she would have loved it, as I love it. Allie captures the metaphor of the turning of the seasons so beautifully in her song Glory of Dying. If you can, put her CD in your car and find a windy road with some fall colors. Or find a spot with a tree in view that is transforming, watch the leaves dance in the wind and listen to this song. https://youtube/watch?v=XzTc99K6raA
