When I authored the House version of the Anti-Plunder Bill in the - TopicsExpress

When I authored the House version of the Anti-Plunder Bill in the 8th Congress, I never, even in my wildest dreams, realized the extent of unmitigated greed it would address in my lifetime. Billions upon billions of the peoples money -- used up to buy palatial homes in Forbes Park, non-stop shopping sprees in Paris and London! Imeldas shoes pale in comparison to one-time purchases for young children who are thrown into the quagmire of unexplained wealth. Senator Jinggoys son wears LV shoes worth 200,000 pesos a pair and nobody bats an eyelash. Mayor Estrada, the grandfather, scoffs at those who even dare to utter a word against his Louie Vuitton-shoe-wearing grandson! Gigi Reyes pays 25million for jewelry in Bulgari owned by the Katigbaks here in Manila and no one cares to question where all the money comes from, at the point of purchase. This brings to mind an old, worn-out scene of Napoles daughter, swimming in a sea of cash... only to re-affirm to us that she is devoid of any moral value, as she flaunts her mothers wealth, with no compunction nor an ounce of guilt. Its gone berserk! Do these people even have a conscience?!? We are supposed to be the only prevalently Christian country in Asia but the debauchery goes on, even among the clergy. We have priests who steal us blind, who accept blood money earned from evil pork barrel scams, who live in these mansions in exclusive and posh villages, notwithstanding the criticisms hurled upon them in broad daylight. We have brazen justification from the highest places of governance in the land. We have judges who get paid, and judges who get shot, all for petty deals. Human life is worthless in our country! You pay 10,000 pesos to an assassin and you can obliterate a life with a single bullet. Pay a hack to destroy a reputation for a measly sum, organize a bogus campaign rally to pay off attendees to present a contrived version of peoples support, dole out favors to so-called journalists who would rush for even just free food to drum up attention for anything at all under the sun... all for MONEY, MONEY and more MONEY. Where are our parents?!? The father and the mother who taught us when we were young... To work hard for the days wages, to respect the salt of the earth among us and give to the poor, without counting the cost? To pray for grace before eating, to allow for a hard days work to earn the respectable peso to feed our families... Oh, Jesus! Have YOU forsaken us, in our time of need??? A sense of helplessness and ennui, an unexplainable sense of indifference have overtaken us.... Where are the true leaders of La Patria Adorada? The land is arid without you and our people cry out for respite. CRY, my beloved people...cry desperately for our country that has lost its soul!
