When I first met Scott and went to his soccer games, his team - TopicsExpress

When I first met Scott and went to his soccer games, his team would occasionally play against rather tough n rough teams and his frustration and anger would show up in his game for all to see. Tonight, he got pinned to the wall by one player while another scored a goal - he plays goalie. The ref missed it so there was no call made and the players were meanies and braggy about it all. Probably one of the worst plays I have seen him be a victim of in a long time. He walked back to the goal, took a drink of water, tossed his water bottle to the ground and then I saw him take a deep breath and look up. From where I was sitting in the bleachers, I could feel it lift off of him, he was over it and back in the game for the duration. I was SO proud of him. I asked him about that moment after the game and he said ”Yep, that was a beam me up Lord or I’m going to make a poor choice” moment and he was quite proud of himself as well. Never think for a second that you cannot overcome injustice, anger, shame, frustration and yes, even, a bad referee call, with the power of God walking next to you. His love and guidance brings so much strength and when you let it move in you – you can overcome anything without making it worse with anger and accusation! It has forever and will forever be the very best way to handle any challenge you encounter. Better than any escape you run to or anger you throw down. Better than yelling and name calling. Better than encouraging others into your victimized state, blasting it all over Facebook, spreading rumors or yelling at a referee just trying to do his job and support his family. You can think all the thoughts you want but the moment you start doing, hollering and lashing out in anger, you have invited a story to be written about who you are and what you represent. You have shown your children and your spouse, strangers and friends what you are and are not capable of handling. How strong your faith in HIS plan really is. Who you truly are. We ALL have moments we regret where we have lost our cool and written a story we are not proud of. Most of us will have many in a lifetime, the beautiful thing is that it’s never too late to seek less of them, to ask forgiveness for the ones you have had, try again and set your heart to model the control, peace and faith you are capable of and want those you love to be capable of to. I’m so proud of my hubby and so grateful he plays soccer with Jesus now.
