When I first moved to Scotland, I quickly learned that the weather was a common topic of conversation. Regularly, I was advised that, If you dont like the weather, just wait 10 minutes. It will change. And for the most part it did and still does. The perception of the weather here in Scotland (within its borders and from beyond) is that it is gray, windy and wet practically year round. I think the weather here gets a bad rap. We do get sun and warmth at times too! But the truth is the weather isnt really the problem. Its people perceptions of the weather. I know I cannot do anything about changing or controlling the weather. I would go nuts trying and waste a lot of time, energy and resources to do that. However, what I can change and control is my perception of the weather. It may be dull and dreary at times, but rather than grumble, its better to accept it and figure out how to make the most of it; how to turn a negative into a positive. As I often assert, plan for rain; the sun is a bonus. And the changes in our lives are no different. We often grumble at change, but there is always an opportunity within it to make the most of it. Who knows, you may even surprise yourself and begin to enjoy it (like the weather here in Scotland). Please share your insights, comments and experience here on your experience of change. Be Greater!
