When I first saw the Hands Up Dont Shoot movement, It seemed kinda - TopicsExpress

When I first saw the Hands Up Dont Shoot movement, It seemed kinda disconnected from reality. Theres not a lot of random police shootings of black men going on, but when one does happen, justice certainly needs to be done. Most blacks do not walk around fearing being shot by a police officer. When I see an officer, I dont throw my hands up, and shout hands up, dont shoot. I dont presume that officers want to shoot me. Why would they? Because Im black? I dont impute such dishonorable motives to the people who have chosen to serve in the law enforcement profession. Some people live on the edge though. They make their living by committing petty crimes. Crimes such as burglary, stick-ups, drug dealing, shoplifting, and car theft. These people will encounter law enforcement, and will not find that to be a pleasant experience. Law enforcement is the enemy, and is a threat to the livelihood of a criminal. They would rather see the thin blue line just go away. There is a remarkable amount of suspicion directed at police officers, even by those blacks who do not make their living by committing crimes. They believe that police officers are essentially hunting random blacks, for the purpose of shooting them in cold blood. How can we explain this? Again, I dont believe that police officers wake up everyday with a goal of executing a black man. Now if Im a criminal suspect, I do have to fear being arrested, and shot if I resist. But the movement that portrays all blacks, as being in danger of being shot by any police officer, is just farcical. Listen to this guy explain why he was never on board with the Hands Up Dont Shoot movement.
