When I first went to college I had an interest in science so I took per-calculus and German. I needed a general ed class so I took English 101. UNLV isnt known for its science or academics and I can tell you that I had lousy instruction in all three classes. So after I moved to California, though I passed my classes, I wasnt even remotely prepared for calculus. I failed the first test. Physics challenged me, but I wasnt failing it. I love knowing how things work. I even tutored a girl who sat next to me in both classes. She aced the calculus test. I tried to get her to trade the help, but she had a life so it didnt happen. I suppose I should pat myself on the back that I got that far. A lot of people tell me they dont understand math at all. I wonder why I didnt ever actually catch hold of science enough to make any kind of career. I am smart enough and I have a strong interest. I love writing about it. Maybe thats why I didnt go further. If you specialize, you dont have the flexibility to study anything that catches your interest. Plus, fiction allows you to ignore reality and write about speculations and theories and things that break all the rules. Thats probably why. I like to flit around.
