When I put William down tonight, he asked me to sing a lullaby I had made up for him when he was a baby (now nearly 6). He settled in and closed his eyes and had a little smile on his face - then uttered youre the best mum ever. After a day of constant whining, being told I was a mean mummy and much moaning about what I had made for dinner and being unhappy about leaving a play date - it made my long day worthwhile. The unprovoked declaration of love from my little boy - these moments make being a mother so worthwhile. Heres to all you wonderful mothers out there :-)))
