When I say we have a great team I really do mean it. We had a post from a pet owner whose unaltered male pet was missing. As strongly as 99% of us feel about spay/neuter, I was so happy that not one person made a single negative comment! It was mentioned and then wishes for her pet to be found were made. She confessed to me she had posted elsewhere, I did not ask where, and was literally attacked to the point she was in tears. I apologized, because even though it did not come from our page, it did come from the Lost and Found Community of which we belong. If I was administrator of a page and that happened, you can not begin to guess how quickly my head would have exploded. The Lost and Found Communitys main focus SHOULD always be doing our absolute best to help reunite lost pets with their families. Someone attacking a pet owner that is reaching out to our community for help should not be acceptable to administration or other team members. We ALWAYS share with those pet owners our firm belief in spay/neuter, it is THE only way to end pet overpopulation and greatly reduces the chance of male pets ending up missing, hurt or killed. If someone comments in an aggressive manner, I couldnt possibly care less WHAT they have to say. The opportunity to make a difference was lost because they were too stupid to approach someone in a respectful manner. If you are wondering, she had just brought this pet into her home and the surgery was being scheduled, her other 6 (I believe) pets, from horses to cats are ALL altered. Some page lost the chance to add another great member to their team. She expressed her gratitude to us for offering help instead of ridicule. I felt like a proud Mama. The saddest part is, I didnt doubt what she said because I have seen it for myself, and I am sure many of you have, too.
