When I was 17 years old I was president of the Jacksonville - TopicsExpress

When I was 17 years old I was president of the Jacksonville Illinois District Methodist Youth Fellowship. The district superintendent could not find a pastor of this church. He licensed me as a Methodist pastor, and I was sent to the country church to be pastor. I did not have a lot of knowledge about the Bible, but one thing a really knew was Jesus. I had never preached a sermon. I went to a Christian book store and bought a book of evangelistic sermons. I preached one right after another to ten women attending services. They had never heard of salvation before. One Sunday morning they all came forward weeping accepting Jesus. This caused a mighty revival in this little church that brought nearly 100 to accept Jesus as savior over the next year. I cannot understand why churches think they have to put on a big show to get people in when if they would rely on the Holy Spirit they would see mighty miracles happen in the midst.
