When I was a kid one of my neighbours children fell in love with my favourite doll. My mother said in my ear: Diye de. Give it to her. Being an obedient child, I had done it, but was inconsolable afterwards. Finally, Ma said, Tomar eto ache. Practise giving away. If you give her your most favourite thing, you will see god will send you two. Eventually. Double of every thing you give. So I remember, at four, having taken that literally and waited for two weeks for a package to arrive with two identical dolls in them. Of course, that never happened. But the words have stayed in my head and still cause me no end of trouble. Silly Ma. :)
