When I was growing up and choosing an initial career path, Stuart Scott was one of the guys I looked up to. In grade school, I used to wake up an hour early in order to run downstairs and watch an episode of SportsCenter before getting ready. A lot of people will talk about the impact that Stuart had on opening up the door for Black journalists, and dont get me wrong, his impact was unmeasurable, however, his footprint left on the sports journalism community as a whole was also unmatched. He went against the grain, and changed the game forever. When diagnosed with cancer, he tackled it head on. I believe that heroes have many different disguises, and for me, one of my heroes wore a suit and anchored SportsCenter. Take a moment, and watch his speech from the ESPYs and try not to be moved.
