When I was growing up, things werent easy for my mom. Often she was left alone to provide for her 5 children. One Thanksgiving, there were too many bills to be paid and not enough money to go around to buy food for Thanksgiving dinner. We just came back from staying with our dad, so she was waiting on government assistance because she actually needed it. Us kids didnt know that at the time because, honestly we never knew how hard times really were. The day before Thanksgiving, a woman I never knew knocked on the door. She had several bags with her and asked to come in. She said that she was from the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls and wanted to bring our family some things to help us through the holidays. My mom humbly accepted. The woman set down her bags and left to her car to get more. After she was done bringing us several bags of food, my mom thanked her and then she prayed for us. Years later, God is still providing for me and my family but in different ways. The impression that lady made on me stays with me still today. That combined with the blue Santa that came to our door a few Christmass. The truth is, not everyone that needs help is lazy. Not everyone that cant provide for their kids is neglectful. Things are much different now, so I feel it is my duty to give when I have more than I need. Please remember tomorrow that there are people in America that cant afford a meal or a home or a blanket. There are children that are out of school that probably wont have a turkey at their dinner table. It is our duty to give and give some more until there is no need. Be thankful for what your blessed with, and invite someone you dont know to dinner on the chance that they wont have a dinner otherwise. Thank you God for your many blessings. Prayers for all those who are less fortunate.
