When Shell petrol and diesel were available in Malta! Friends may wish to recall that it was possible to purchase BP, Esso and Shell petrol and diesel until the early 1970’s. This means that these companies and other companies of other brands of petroleum products have not returned to supply their fuels in Malta, because the local authorities had not put in place a level playing field. The petroleum storage facilities [or the substantial part of such facilities] belong to the Government, so it is in a position to dictate matters. The Representation of the European Commission in Malta seems to be in a state of denial, because it has taken no action to see that the local market is really open, and not simply on paper.
