When a person is down in the world, an ounce of help is better than a pound of preaching. Edward Balwer-Lytton It is only after a person has been helped up from the muck of their troubles that they realize that there may be more to life than they are seeing. In the midst of trouble they call out for help from anywhere and do not care where it comes from. It is then that God can use us to penetrate the mental and spiritual darkness surrounding them. We could preach at them all day long and they would just ignore us. However in their times of need they will reach out for us. It is when they do that the helping hand of a caring person will do more than anything else to change their worldview and give God the opening He needs to work in their hearts. This is the central purpose of any Christian community; to help each other in time of need, for a time of need will indeed come into every life. Ecclesiastes 4:10: For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
