When a woman tries to assert her rights, it is interesting how the old boys club machinery goes into the overdrive mode. The mostly mens club cranks up its propaganda and the explicit opposition takes several forms from ridicule to intimidation to faulting the lady to explaining her the futility of her actions. Same people who are excited to stand in line to get an autograph from a film actress will be hypocritical enough to look down on the profession Or who will not tire claiming that India Has had women heads of state or has had brave women warriors like Jhansi Ki Rani will not appreciate women around them to take an authoritative stance. What is surprising is that they are also supported by other women in their hypocritical thinking. So, if a woman does demand her rights, even a Satya Nadela will say that she is better off staying in the background and wait for her qualities to be discovered by men instead of asserting herself and demanding her due share. The only way for a woman, hence, to get what is after all her due share, is to put on a thick skin and only focus on what the correct thing to do is. Cynics will gradually give way after they get tired of their own fruitless grumbling. Moral or ethical policing cannot be the right of self appointed protectors of culture who themselves would not pass any test of ethics or propriety. Her affairs are none of their business.
