When asked to address the German Film Academy on the future of cinema, producer, screenwriter and director James Schamus replied, This is not an easy task. After enumerating the reasons why, he went on to say, My task is made easier, however, by the fact that I don’t really care about the future of cinema. I do care, however, about why the topic of the future of cinema has become a matter of care and concern for my friends and colleagues.
