When do you ever see a news item posted any longer without the always ubiquitous and obligatory Snopes reference response? By no means am I saying that the stuff we find on the Internet shouldnt be properly investigated, and, when appropriate, challenged. For certain it should. But what I see as the far more pronounced symptom on this Facebook parade is just how much of a hunger there seems to be for being able to say youre wrong! And to dismiss, wipe the floor up, belittle, demean. What I honestly see is more akin to a desire for nastiness and for a fight than a desire to educate or enlighten. There is an antsy, itchy, edgy, flustered, angry energy in this parade of late. Its interesting to see. Lets not lose sight of our basic humanity just because the Internet allows us to be largely anonymous and insulated.
