When it comes to heart health, diabetes seems to be a bigger threat to women than men, according to a new study. Women with diabetes are 40-50% more likely than men with diabetes to develop heart disease. Experts suggest that the difference in risk might be due to the fact that women are often further along when they are diagnosed. The authors recommend increasing pre-diabetes screenings in women, as well as more aggressive treatment.
